SOUTH HADLEY: Rosemary C. (Chesky) Griffin, age 88, of South Hadley, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017 surrounded by her family. Daughter of the late Anthony and Caroline (Ducjak) Chesky, she was born in Holyoke and was a 1946 graduate of Holyoke High School. Rosemary and her husband George lived most of their lives in South Hadley-raising their five children. She was an upbeat and active person who loved camping, the beach, skiing, traveling in Europe, club night with the gang, bridge, trips to Disney World with the grandkids, playing cards with the family, Christmas Eve wigilia, golf, and her many friends. She adored her grandchildren and Grammy Rosie was a common sight at their sporting events, concerts and recitals. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, George E. Griffin; five children, Patti Dawley and her husband Mike of Exeter, NH, Laurie Long of Lakewood, CO, Tim Griffin and his wife Lisa of Chicopee, Maureen Stebbins and her husband Bob of Scituate, and Joanne Wilson and her husband Todd of Ipswich; thirteen grandchildren, Matthew Dawley, Katie (Dawley) Hallberg, Luke Dawley, Brian Long, Brett Long, Amanda Griffin, Emma Griffin, Connor Griffin, Chase Stebbins, Sage Stebbins, Griffin Wilson, Madeline Wilson and Nicole Wilson; four great grandchildren, Levi and Liam Dawley and Brynn and Cooper Hallberg, and many nieces and nephews. Rosemary was predeceased by her dear brother, Carl Chesky. The funeral will be held Friday at 9:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, in Holyoke followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 30 Main Street, South Hadley. Burial will be at a later date. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in memory of Rosemary to St. Patrick's Church, 30 Main Street, South Hadley, MA 01075 or the South Hadley Senior Center, 45 Dayton Street, South Hadley, MA 01075.
