HOLYOKE: Patrick W. Friel, 58, of Holyoke, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at his home, in the care of his devoted brother. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late William P. and Alice M. (Banister) Friel and was a 1977 graduate of Holyoke High School. Pat was a former swing manager at McDonalds in Holyoke from 1975 to 1980, and later worked for thirty years as a Direct Case Worker (MRW 1) for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation, retiring in 2008. He was a communicant of the former Holy Family Parish and Blessed Sacrament Parish in Holyoke, and belonged to the American Legion Post 325 Auxiliary. Patrick is survived by a brother, Ronald J. Friel of Holyoke. A graveside service will be held Thursday morning, April 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Jerome Cemetery, 1666 Northampton Street, Holyoke. There are no calling hours. Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
