Patrick J. Moskal, age 21, of Holyoke, passed away as a result of a tragic accident on Sunday, February 19, 2017. He was born in Holyoke, son of Edward J. and Patricia A. (Long) Moskal of Holyoke, and was a 2013 graduate of Holyoke Catholic High School. He was a member of the Performing Arts Club at Holyoke Catholic. He did every show while he was at HCHS, performed twice at Disney World, sang at several weddings, and performed at the 15th Anniversary Memorial for John DiNapoli. When he wasn't performing he worked behind the scenes on lighting and set building. His two best performances were as Marius in Les Miserables as a member of the Exit 7 Players in Ludlow and as Jesus in Godspell at St. Cecilia's in Wilbraham. He was also the recipient of the Fr John J. Mara award for outstanding character, service, and leadership when he graduated from HCHS. Pat was currently employed as an electrical apprentice for IBEW Local #7 of Springfield, and had previously worked at Home Depot and as a Maintenance Man at STCC Technical Park. Pat was a talented "handy man" and would drop everything to help out his family and friends with any home projects. He enjoyed all holidays, especially Christmas, and was the 2015 winner of the Home Decorating Contest in Holyoke. Pat loved animals, especially dogs, and enjoyed spending any free time at Lake Wyola or his beloved Cape Cod, where he enjoyed boating and fishing with his family and friends. He was opinionated about politics, and was an obnoxious Howard Stern fan. Pat will be forever known as a genuine person. He was an active member of the former Mater Dolorosa Parish and while at Mater Dolorosa he enjoyed being part of the CYO basketball program, playing and eventually refereeing and working the table. Patrick is currently a communicant of St. Jerome Church. Besides his parents, Patrick is survived by his paternal grandfather Max Moskal of Holyoke; his maternal grandparents, John and Marie (Coughlin) Long of Springfield; his brother John "Jack" Moskal of Holyoke; his aunt Mary Henry (Ed); his uncles: Brian Long (Joann), John Long (Kathleen), Mitch Moskal (Debi), Frank Moskal (Barbara), and Lenny Moskal (Lorie); and many cousins. He was predeceased by his grandmother Frances (Salamon) Moskal in 1984. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Patrick's Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10:30am in St. Jerome Church, 169 Hampden Street. Burial will be held at a later date. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00pm in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The Exit 7 Players, 37 Chestnut St., Ludlow, MA 01056 or Dakin Humane Society, 171 Union St., Springfield, MA 01105.
