Maryjule A. (Mahannah) Klopfer died Tuesday January 17, 2017 peacefully at home. She was born in Omaha, Nebraska and educated in Lincoln, NE schools where she graduated from high school as an Honor student. She was employed as a secretary under Civil Service prior to marrying Robert E. Klopfer of Holyoke in 1946. They built there home on land which had belonged to his father in West Holyoke, on the former site of the CCC Camp. Maryjule was a member of the First Congregational Church in Chicopee. She belonged to several square dance clubs, as well as being active in line dancing for many years. She was employed for 22 years as a secretary at Holyoke Medical Center Speech and Audiology Department. Her husband predeceased her in 1983, as well as her youngest son, Kenneth, in 2009. Also, she was predeceased by two siblings, Rachel Moss Wells and Lee Moss. She is survived by two sons and their spouses: Robert V. Klopfer and Patricia (Coppez) of Holyoke, and James E. Klopfer and Stanley (Juncewicz) of Somers, CT; and a daughter-in-law Ruth (McKinstry) Klopfer of East Hartland, CT; four grandchildren: Robert G., Jennifer, John, and Beth; as well as five great-grandchildren. She also leaves her longtime companion, Leo C. Blizniak. A calling hour will be held on Saturday January 21, 2017 from 9:00 to 10:00am at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street. A service will be held in the funeral home at 10:00am with burial to follow in Forestdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to the First Congregational Church, 307 Chicopee St. Chicopee, MA or a charity of one's choice.
