HOLYOKE: Mary (Barrett) Powers, 70, of Holyoke passed away peacefully on December 27, 2016. Mary was raised in Holyoke, daughter of the late Vincent and Margaret Barrett. She was employed by New England Telephone Company for several years and retired in 2016 from Riverbend Medical Group after many years of service. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Cross Parish in Holyoke. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Fred Powers. She is survived by her daughter Megan Justice, her granddaughter Reilly Justice, her sisters, Margaret (Brian) Dunleavy and Christine (Jack) Padden, a nephew and many cousins. The family would like to extend special appreciation to Ann Randall and Anna Wilkinson for the care, support and kindness they provided Mary during her illness. There are no calling hours. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Our Lady of the Cross Church in Holyoke at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sr. Caritas Cancer Center, Mercy Medical Center, 271 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104 or Mercy Hospice, 2112 Riverdale Street, West Springfield, MA 01089. Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
