HOLYOKE- Krystyna (Modzelewska) Urbanowicz, age 57, of Holyoke, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. She was born in Czerwin, Poland, daughter of Halina Modzelewska and the late Czeslaw Modzelewski. She came to the United States in 1983 and built a life for her loving family. Krystyna worked at Lesno, Milton Bradley, Ampad, and was a home health caregiver. She loved the ocean and nature, and was a devoted communicant of Mater Dolorosa Church and the Basilica of Saint Stanislaus. Krystyna was a devoted mother and grandmother. Besides her mother, she is survived by three children: Monika Urbanowicz, Adam Urbanowicz and Yvonne Urbanowicz, and their father, Andy Urbanowicz; her only grandson, Jacob Almodovar (Monika's son), a brother Wieslaw and wife Alicja Modzelewski and their children, Paul (Krystyna's Godson), Greg, Robert, Marilyn and her fiancé Joe, and their daughter Madeline; a brother in Poland, Krzysztof and Renatka Modzewleski and their children: Edyta and husband Jaroslaw Gumkowski and daughter Milenka Justyna and husband Adam Mikolajczyk and their children Paulinka and Szymon, Malgosia and husband Michal Walendziak and daughter Oliwia, Wojtek Modzelewski, and Monika and fiancé Pawel Chojnowski; Uncle and Aunt, Zdzislaw and Teresa Modzelewski, a Godson in Poland, Pawel Jankowski, a niece Sylvia Tyszka, mother-in-law Genowefa Nawolska, and her loving companion Jeffrey Chirgwin. The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9:45 from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at the Basilica of Saint Stanislaus, 570 Front Street in Chicopee. Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, South Hadley. Calling hours will be held Friday, February 10th from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please have a Mass said at your local parish for the repose of Krystyna's soul.
