James J. Shea, 78, of Chicopee, died Tuesday January 17, 2017 at Holyoke Medical Center. Jim was born in Springfield, son of the late James J. and Anna (Ryan) Shea, Sr. and was a graduate of Cathedral High School and Springfield Technical Community College. He was a United States Army Veteran and was a retired Clerk at the U.S. Postal Service Bulk Mail Center in Springfield. Before going to the E.R., Jim smoked his last Camel. He was an avid Lottery player, and even on his last night in the E.R. Jim wanted to know the daily number. For those who knew him well, he will be remembered for 208! Jim was predeceased by his wife Joyce (Rattelle) Shea in 1990. He is survived by his two beloved daughters, Kathleen Peltier and her husband Robert, and Tracy Circosta and her husband Patrick; three cherished grandchildren: James, Patrick, and Anthony; his grand-dog Kassidy; and a sister, Mary Ann Arsenault of Florida. A Funeral Mass for Jim will be held Monday January 23, 2017 at 10:00am in Sacred Heart Church, 387 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA followed by burial in St. Michael Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday January 22 from 2:00 to 5:00pm at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton St. Holyoke, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105
