HOLYOKE: Fausto Aurelio Piedra, age 54, of Holyoke, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 31, 2017 at his home. He was born in Quito, Ecuador, and had lived in Holyoke since 1965. Fausto was a 1981 graduate of Holyoke Catholic High School and St. Johns Business School in West Springfield. He was the 11-year Proprietor of FAP Contractors of Holyoke. In his younger years, he participated in body building competitions and was a member of Gold's Gym. He loved cars, was an excellent artist and painter, and a member of the United States Chess Foundation. Fausto is survived by his parents, Elba B. Piedra and Eduardo P. Salas of Holyoke; two brothers, Michael A. Piedra and wife Brenda and Edward D. Piedra and wife Rebecca, all of Chicopee; two nephews, Michael A. II and Nicholas R. Piedra; five nieces, Alycia, Stephanie, Hannah, Christina, and Angelina Piedra. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick Chapel of St. Jerome Church. Burial will follow in St. Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Fausto to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Avenue, Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451.
